Brandy Marine, Inc. is proud to renew an affiliation with Winston Lee, ASLA, AICP as Managing Director of Planning and Design. During the 1980?s and early 1990?s, Winston contributed over 200 marina site plans on behalf of Brandy?s development clients. According to Bruce Blomgren, President and CEO of Brandy, ?This renewed relationship with my old friend and associate, one of the premier marina planners in the world, allows Brandy the opportunity to once again offer the services of marina development planning ?in-house? to our clients and to expand our geographical presence with an office in West Palm Beach, Florida.? As an example, the vacant land surrounding the Port St. Joe Marina in the City of Port St. Joe, in Florida?s panhandle, is under expansion consideration. Brandy manages the facility for a subsidiary of the St. Joe Company. The team is currently carefully reviewing, the components in and around the existing marina, which remains the focal point for all the available vacant land in the downtown area. Brandy is working with the St Joe Company and the City to create a link between the marina and other logical as well as existing commercial uses. ?We remain committed to the long term solution of a planning/operational project like Port St. Joe in both solving a design and planning link as well as providing the best opportunity for financial partners to regain their return on investment.? stated Blomgren.

Brandy continues to play an important contributing role in marina planning in concert with the architects, engineers and other professional disciplines that are important to each project that our developer/clients undertake. Brandy brings it?s teams expertise in marina design into focus with the developments entire theme allowing the other professional members of the interdisciplinary team to incorporate and mesh other landside uses into a comprehensive waterscape. When previously associated with Brandy, Mr. Lee received the prestigious President?s Award for Planning from President de Salinas of Mexico on the work he performed on the design of Isla Navidad near Manzanilla, Mexico. Other notable projects included the redesign of the waterfront for the City of Key West and the urban plan for Unocal Oil in downtown Seattle. Mr. Lee will be valuable to Brandy in its focus on Caribbean projects, having traveled their many islands on past projects for Brandy. Mr. Lee sees the Caribbean as a great opportunity for marinas focused on the more sophisticated requirements of boaters today and into the future. ?With the explosion of Mega yachts and the need for premier docking facilities and services, coupled with generally a friendlier development atmosphere, makes for some spectacular opportunities throughout the Caribbean, where traditionally, large, mixed use facilities have been limited.? stated Lee.

Winston Lee, ASLA AICP Traditionally Brandy has approached new developments with three key consulting ingredients; market research, marina planning, design and initial costing including full operational Proformas bringing the project into the compliance with the potential return on investment and internal rates of return required by the developer. John Landry, Brandy?s Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer brings to the corporate team, expertise in management, operations, financial forecasting and due diligence on existing marina projects and those under consideration for acquisition or development. This focus coupled with Mr. Lee?s planning and design provides an important relationship to both design operational aspects as well as profitability. ?Every marina development must first have all the factors that will enable it to be profitable; geographic, knowledge of competing marina facilities, local rate structures, and market absorption in order to insure a project?s required return on investment for the clients.? Mr. Landry said. |
